5 Kitchen Trends for Summer 2021

Summer will soon be upon us a in a few short weeks! That means longer nights with the kiddos at home and basking in your A/C blasted home to avoid the summer heat. Whether you're relaxing at home this summer, hosting small get togethers or just wanting to spruce up your home, keep these 5 kitchen trends in mind as you prepare!

1) Smart Kitchens

Technology is everywhere. It streamlines life and whether you're a fan or not, there's no denying that technology is in full force in our lives--and that translates into the kitchen.

Technology trends to look out for in kitchens: motion-sense kitchen faucets, refrigerators that alert you when you're low on groceries, tech that monitors the freshness of your eggs and a lighting system all controlled from your smart device.

Tech in kitchens is a trend that's here to stay.

2) Dark colors are in, white is out!

White kitchen cabinets have held this top trend position for the longest time, but we are expecting them to slowly give way to dark cabinets. It's an excellent way to breakup an all white kitchen. People are also gravitating towards natural wood finishes as their accent colors, along with green, blue, black and plum.

3) Simplicity is Key

Gone are the farmhouse and mid-century modern aesthetics. Stress free and simple are key in kitchens now. It's all about clean, modern lines. People are removing upper wall cabinets to create a larger visual space. In addition, simplicity introduces texture. Playing around with natural finishes or sculpted finishes are where the trends are leaning.

4) Quartz is here to stay!

The never-ending battle between quartz and granite. But quartz has come out supreme with its low maintenance ease of use, durability and anti-microbial qualities. And now, thanks to technology, you can choose from a vast array of realistic stone patterns that are unique only to your kitchen. The color trends for quartz is moving towards neutral colors like grey, taupe, or creamy shades.

5) Matching Countertop and Backsplash

The newest trend is matching your countertop stone with your backsplash. This elevates the kitchen by creating a virtually seamless look. And the best part? No grout to clean. Everyone wins!

And those are the 5 kitchen trends to look out for in the year of 2021. Which ones will you be trying?
